Making Ready for the New Year and a FREEBIE

It has been a while since I made a post on here. With Tom home and all the extra things going on, it is busy, busy. If that were not enough, we have been taking care of Lucy (see below) the little blue heeler that he will take back to Barrow, AK with him. I have grumbled when her sharp teeth connect and when I have had to take her out into the freezing cold, but she owns a big corner of my heart and I am going to miss her like crazy.

Last night while Lucy was sleeping, I had a few minutes to play with Photoshop. This is a mini that I made for the December Color Challenge at Ivy Scraps. You can grab the link in the gallery. If you download, leave some love.

I'm not sure that I will get anywhere near this blog until after Tom leaves on the 3rd, so will wish each of you a safe and Happy New Year!! See you in 2011!
Hugs to all, Jan

Christmas Baking and a Challenge too

Although I am not quite sure where I am going to find the time, it is time to start the Christmas baking! Each year I think I will do something different and by the time I make the favorites that everyone asks for we have so many cookies and candies that it takes forever for it to be eaten. We give plenty away too. Mom and Russell like the snowballs and when I saw this recipe in the Taste Of Home Holiday magazine, I thought it might be nice to try. So, when I drag out the sugar and flour, I will see how it goes.

The recipe challenge at Ivy Scraps this month is Cookies (what else? LOL!!) If you find that you have a few spare minutes, why don't you make a layout to share your favorite cookie recipe?

I used the Winter Holidays Mega Kit to create my recipe layout. There are many fun
things to work with, I just need to learn how to get the recipe in a smaller space!

Me time :)

It is cold and snowy outside, so after dinner I spent the evening working on some scrapbook pages with some recent photos. I knew exactly which kits I wanted to use and that was a major jump-start. The colors in Christmas Joy work so well with Ry and the parade photos. Christmas Magic is more traditional Christmas colors and I loved working with it too. You can find both kits by Gloria Val Verde at Ivy Scraps.

I have a new kit in the store too, but will save that one for another post. Happy Tuesday!! Hugs, Jan

Life is good

We picked Tom up at the airport on Friday morning. It has been almost a year since he was home, so you can imagine all of the activity around here. It is so nice to have him here again. Ryley has been his constant little shadow and it is cute to watch them together. Poor little Ry when Uncle Tom has to return to Alaska.

Yesterday was the Christmas parade and although Pap didn't take the old truck in the parade, we did walk down to be a spectator. I got some decent photos for scrapping and need to do that before they are lost in the folders forever. I got a new kit called Christmas Joy by Gloria Val Verde that is going to work perfect with this photo.

Happy DSD!!

The Ivy Scraps Heritage Challenge this month is to make a LO about a veteran family member. I chose to do Uncle Neal. He enlisted at a very young age (16), spent his first enlistment in the U.S. Navy and the re-enlisted in the Air Force and retired from there. You can tell from this LO how young he was when he went off to war!

Layout share and a MEGA Sale

I have taken the time to do some scrapping this month. Since I started designing, I never seem to have time to scrap, so I've really enjoyed this.

My friend Des, at Ivy Scraps has a color challenge every month and this month's colors are so awesome!! So was her mini kit, Cinnamon Sticks. I used it for this LO of one of the cabins at Somerset Historical Center.

Once again it has been forever

I've been so busy trying to keep organized for the birthday celebration at Ivy Scraps, that the blog has taken a backseat again!! When you see all of the wonderful things going on there and the FREEBIES, maybe you will forgive me.

First, you have got to see the November Mega Kit called Thankful! It is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for not only the fall events you need to scrap, but for many other things. You can pick it up at the store for only $3.00 this month.

Next you can post in this thread for a RAK of KittenScraps beautiful kit - SPA DAY.

And last but certainly not least, there is a daily download that will amount to a huge kit when it is finished at the end of the month. You can find the DOWNLOAD LINKS HERE and below are just a couple of the previews to give you an idea of the kit contents.

While you are checking out the daily download and signing up for the RAK, be sure to check out the Mega Kit freebies and the special events and challenges going on.

Happy Birthday Ivy Scraps!!

Shame on Me

I have been such a bad blogger... Can't believe it has been almost 3 months since I have made a post on here. :( No longer do the days drag on as they did in younger years, but rather they fly right by and make one wonder just where they have gone off to.

We have taken a couple of short trips and have another long weekend planned in October. Last weekend we spent at the ADRL sponsored drag races in Norwalk, Ohio. Although I am not one to follow NASCAR, I love, love, love the drag races... the noise, the burn outs... Anywho, we had a wonderful weekend with perfect weather.

In June, we spent time at Lake Erie, and then to Niagara Falls and finally to Syracuse, NY before returning home. I had hoped that a bit of genealogy research would turn up something that has been very elusive in the family tree. No such luck was had!! Even though we did not find out when the twin babies died and are buried, it was nice to see the neighborhood where my great grandmother was born. I haven't had time to scrap any of the photos we took, but they can be found in albums on my FB page.

I promise to do a better job of posting from here on out. Watch for some news and a freebie or two. It's been forever since I created something just because I wanted to.

In the mean while, you might want to visit Ivy Scraps Blog for some lovely fall themed freebies. Hurry while you can still grab them.

Hugs,
Jan
